Stewards' Foundation: Investing

Why Invest with us?

  • We provide a reasonable return on your investment, paid every six months.
  • You are making an investment in the Lord's work.  We put your investment to use in the work of Brethren assemblies.
  • We believe we are a low risk.  Since the Foundation started in 1955, we have never had a borrower default on a loan.

How do I invest?

Please read the Bond Subscriber's Statement first before investing with us, to find out more about your investment.

We have a Bond Investment Form, which you can download, complete and return to us.

Alternatively, we advertise each month in the Treasury magazine.  The advert there has the details you need.

What types of Investments are there?

We have two main types of investment:

  • Two year fixed term, fixed rate investment, or
  • Perpetual investment, repayable upon giving three month's notice

The interest rate payable for the two types differs, and can change from time to time.  Interest rates from 1 November 2009 are:

Two Year Bonds   5.0% p.a.
Perpetual (3 Month) Bonds       4.0% p.a.

Please contact us to confirm current interest rates.

Interest Free Investments?

Some people choose to make an investment and choose not to receive any interest in return.  In doing this, they retain ownership of the sum invested, but at the same time they are making a donation to the Lord's work.  The Foundation calculates the interest that it would otherwise have paid to bond holders, and on a six monthly basis pays an amount equivalent to that to various Christian ministries within New Zealand.  Over the past three years, over $190,000 has been given to Christian ministries in this way.

Some Figures (at September 2009)

Individual Bond Holders    approximately 180
Total Bonds Issued  over $6.2M
Interest Free Bonds  over $600,000
